Our Teachers
Our teachers consist of loving individuals who have a passion for Early Childhood Education and enriching the lives of young children and families.
Every staff member meets Ministry requirements for their position including Early Childhood Education as well as CPR and First Aid certifications. The teachers engage in ongoing continuous professional learning opportunities throughout the year bringing new ideas based on the latest thinking into the program. The staff have a wealth of knowledge each with over 25 years experience as R.ECE’s working throughout their careers in a variety of early childhood settings.

Kerry Houghton, RECE, Supervisor
Kerry has a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has completed a Registered Early Childhood Studies at Seneca College and achieved her Early Childhood Education Professional Status. Kerry has a total of over 25 years of experience in childcare education and nursery management and works very closely with the team to provide the best possible care and education for all children at It Takes a Village Preschool. She is enthusiastic about using all her training and experiences to keep It Takes a Village Preschool continuously developing and of a high standard.
Alex Houghton, ECE
Alex Houghton is a dedicated preschool teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Behavioural Psychology. With experience working with children of all ages, including those with developmental and intellectual disabilities, Alex brings expertise in adapting programs to meet everyone's needs. She is committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students. With a passion for early childhood education, Alex also has experience working in preschool settings, promoting curiosity and creativity in young learners. Her dedication and passion for early childhood learning and creating engaging learning experiences align with what makes her a valuable asset to It Takes A Village Preschool.
