From the Village of Markham to the Village of Unionville
It Takes A Village Preschool (formerly Grace Church Markham Nursery School) has a new home within the walls of the Unionville Presbyterian Church (UPC). Same great program, Staff, and Board of Directors with a new bright street-level location with lots of natural light and open space.

Today
Unionville Presbyterian Church (UPC) has graciously taken us under their wings. Due to our new location, we have decided to rebrand and name the nursery school "It Takes a Village Preschool". We look forward to our new location and our inaugural school year of 2021-2022. The school has come a long way and has enjoyed almost 60 years of meeting the needs of the Markham community with great success.
Our History
In 1963, a parish priest in the Markham area recognized the need for a nursery school. He took the initiative to form a committee and after 6 months they established a nursery school in the basement of their church.
Grace Church Nursery School was the first preschool program offered in Markham Village opening in September 1963. A few years later, the school was incorporated and licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and is now licensed under the Ministry of Education as part of the Early Years Sector.
